I hate to jump on the ‘write a post about upcoming apple product’ bandwagon, because by now it has become akin to Rick’rolling. Every time you click on a story about the apple tablet it seems to be the same set of rumours regurgitated between an ever increasing amount of quote marks. However earlier in the week I had a dream, not the Martin Luther kind of dream, one more of the dystopian ‘rollerball’ variety..
Here are the fragments of what I can remember…
Its the day of the Apple Tablet announcement, somehow I am in San Francisco , excitement is high everyone has that blank look of consumer obedience, yet there is a tension in the air, I should be excited, but I’m not. I can feel theres something wrong but I can’t place it.
Apple have been very tight lipped about this release, as with all their releases. But this time it seems more mysterious, tied into the fact that there have been no updates to the iphone software etc.
As soon as the announcement is made, the world darkens becomes grey, everyones Iphones seem to revert back to 1.0 versions. Extra restrictions seem to tighten on the operating system, monitoring your every move. The tablet is similar. The secrecy has been so complete it seems because they have created the perfect ruse to control all of us.
The dream moves on, it appears suddenly that there are secret police everywhere, they see everything no one can escape, be it by iPhone or by CCTV or other apple device you are now monitored completely.
The world now resembles Mad Max crossed with nazi germany, grey, barbed wire dystopian. Now begins my fight, I disrob of all technology, but they can still track me, they are always one step behind me, everyone I meet succumbs to them, cannot seem to fight them. I am Alone.
At an abandoned swimming pool, grey, rusty and leave strewn I make my escape,my world is not technological anymore but a degraded biological.
I awake. the dream fades, but for a few minutes I can still feel the emotions, I can still feel the grey tablet dystopia.
