I seem to be getting a lot of spam email recently that if you try to read out loud gives you breathing problems and a brain aneurism…

Who are these meant for? Are they really looking for a date? Is it some sort of phishing scam? Where did they learn english?

Going full tilt on loads of projects at the moment, this footage has been burning a hole in my laptop for a while, partly because I thought there really wasn’t much there to make anything out of. Then I realised that I’m not in the business of making sense.

First Up I’m singing the wrong lyrics to a song I’m not sure exists, In a moment of madness whilst testing out new lensbaby optic system.

Next, I went to Broadcast Video Expo at Earls Court and got the man on a Steadicam stand to chase me with my camera.

Hackers 3G

Unbelievably I have been trusted with a Nokia Booklet 3G to test out by WomWorld Nokia, hand delivered by none other than Mr @whatleydude.

So naturally I thought I would put it through its paces..

(Disclaimer: This may not give any actual indication of performance of this hardware whatsoever, lest it be known it is resilient to light drizzle and the sand pit.)

Gordon’s ALIVE!?

The Apple Tablet Dystopia

I hate to jump on the ‘write a post about upcoming apple product’ bandwagon, because by now it has become akin to Rick’rolling. Every time you click on a story about the apple tablet it seems to be the same set of rumours regurgitated between an ever increasing amount of quote marks. However earlier in the week I had a dream, not the Martin Luther kind of dream, one more of the dystopian ‘rollerball’ variety..

Here are the fragments of what I can remember…

Its the day of the Apple Tablet announcement, somehow I am in San Francisco , excitement is high everyone has that blank look of consumer obedience, yet there is a tension in the air, I should be excited, but I’m not. I can feel theres something wrong but I can’t place it.

Apple have been very tight lipped about this release, as with all their releases. But this time it seems more mysterious, tied into the fact that there have been no updates to the iphone software etc.

As soon as the announcement is made, the world darkens becomes grey, everyones Iphones seem to revert back to 1.0 versions. Extra restrictions seem to tighten on the operating system, monitoring your every move. The tablet is similar. The secrecy has been so complete it seems because they have created the perfect ruse to control all of us.

The dream moves on, it appears suddenly that there are secret police everywhere, they see everything no one can escape, be it by iPhone or by CCTV or other apple device you are now monitored completely.

The world now resembles Mad Max crossed with nazi germany, grey, barbed wire dystopian. Now begins my fight, I disrob of all technology, but they can still track me, they are always one step behind me, everyone I meet succumbs to them, cannot seem to fight them. I am Alone.

At an abandoned swimming pool, grey, rusty and leave strewn I make my escape,my world is not technological anymore but a degraded biological.

I awake. the dream fades, but for a few minutes I can still feel the emotions, I can still feel the grey tablet dystopia.

Mornings

As part of my initiative to ‘get shit done’ in 2010, I am trying to be more productive. That means trying to get in to the office between 8.30-9am and leaving around 6. (Unless theres a big project on). Usually I do 10-7 or 8, but I feel that after around 5 productivity starts to drop rapidly. So far I’m getting a lot more done, but in adjusting to this I have started to strike up a certain kinship with those who sleep on the bus.

Wednesday midweek, I got on the bus It was still dark, The Pan Piper by Miles Davis hit my Ipod on random and we shuffled inwards. The music and the journey mesmerised me, something about the twilight feeling mixed with that song. The film below is my attempt to capture that half asleep journey to work.
